Windcat launches targets wind market with new vessel

NETHERLANDS: The latest Windcat workboat, custom-built for maintenance and servicing work at offshore wind farms, has been launched in the Netherlands by Windcat Workboats.

The Windcat 28, an 18 metre long aluminium catamaran with a top speed of 30 knots, was built in Kuipers Woudsend shipyard near Heerenveen.

The vessel can carry up to 12 passengers and two crew and up to 2.5 tonnes of cargo.

It will be deployed immediately at RWE Innogy’s Greater Gabbard wind farm off the coast of eastern England, before moving to Belgian waters in May to work on the commissioning of C-Power’s Thornton Bank Phase II wind farm near Ostend.
