The appointment of Negro, follows this month's move to bring in David Flitterman from invesment company VF Partners to take up the role of chairman for Gamesa North America.
In a statement, Gamesa said Flitterman and Negro will be charged with building the company's business in Canada, Mexico and Central America. It added that Negro was behind Gamesa's recent $900 million four project deal with Canada power company Algonquin Power.
Negro joined Gamesa in 2002 and has held roles as corporate director of wind farm solutions and sales director with the development and wind farm sales unit. He also holds a degree in industrial engineering.
Speaking about the appointment, Flitterman said: "Negro has great technical skills and a far-reaching understanding of Gamesa and the international wind energy industry, specifically that of the United States. I am delighted that he is joining us in building our presence in this strategic market."
