In its annual report the company said it has completed testing key components in 2011. It will become the second Chinese manufacturer to launch a 6MW offshore turbine after Sinovel.
Goldwind develops its turbines with German designer Vensys, which is 70% owned by Goldwind.
Last year, Goldwind announced it was using money raised on the stock exchange to build a facility producing offshore wind turbines.
It shifted around CNY 150 million ($22.8 million) raised last year on the Shanghai and Hong Kong stock markets to build an offshore wind-turbine development and production base in Dafeng, in Jiangsu province.
At the time, Shi Pengfei, an independent director of Goldwind, said: "This shift in investment priority meets with the current Chinese market demands and Goldwind’s strategic development goals. It is an important move to consolidate Goldwind’s position as a major offshore wind turbine producer."
However, China has been struggling to develop its offshore capacity as administrational issues and higher costs hit efforts to build its flagship offshore projects.
So far, the first four offshore concession projects in east China’s Jiangsu province, totalling 1GW, have failed to get off the drawing board. This is despite the National Energy Bureau announcing the public tender results in September 2010.
