The Sincik wind farm, which will be located near Adiyaman in south-eastern Turkey, will use 11 N100 2.5MW low wind speed turbines. It will be at an altitude of 1,500 metres. The towers will be built by Ciltug, a subsidiary of the Tektug group.
Speaking about the deal, Nordex Turkey managing director Ayhan Goek said: "This is the first wind project for Tektug Elektrik. And our new customer has ambitious plans to expand. In addition to this, our pilot project is located in the east of Anatolia. This also offers opportunities for follow-up projects."
This is the second win for Nordex in Turkey this year. In January, it secured an order to supply 20 turbines from its 2.5MW series for a wind farm in western Turkey.
Power station operator Bilgin Enerji signed the 50MW deal with the turbine manufacturer for its Zeytineli wind farm. The project is to be installed on the hill rows of Alaçati-Çesme in the province of Izmir in the first quarter of 2013.
Goek said he expects an additional 800MW to 1GW in wind capacity to be installed in Turkey this year. This will all come from roughly 9GW in production licenses that is for wind farms already issued by the regulator.
However, without higher incentive prices Goek believes any Turkish wind boom could quickly die out. The country's ambitious 2023 target of 20GW in installed wind capacity would become increasingly difficult to achieve.
