RWE submits 1.2 offshore application

UK: The application submitted by RWE Npower for its 1.2GW Triton Knoll offshore wind farm off the coast of eastern England has been accepted by the UK's Infrastructure Planning Commission (IPC).

The application will now pass into the IPC’s examination process. RWE Npower’s submission included details of the feedback from its 42-day consultation exercise.

Jacob Hain, Triton Knoll project manager at RWE Npower called it a major step forward for the project. He said preliminary work on the scheme was already progressing. "So far, during assessments for Triton Knoll we have already placed contracts with vessel operators around the wind farm site that exceed £3 million" he said.

Triton Knoll will be located in the North Sea 20 miles off the coast of Lincolnshire and 28 miles from the coast of North Norfolk.
