Siemens will supply 176 SWT 2.3 108 turbines to the projects. The contract includes a five-year maintenance contract.

The project are:

• Vienna, Marshall and Tama counties (103.5MW)
• Eclipse, Guthrie and Audubon counties (200MW)
• Morning Light, Adair County (101.2MW)  

In 2010, Siemens received an order for 593MW, its largest onshore order to date, from MidAmerican Energy for the Laurel, Rolling Hills and Pomeroy wind projects in Iowa.

Speaking about the deal, Siemens “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç Americas CEO Mark Albenze said: "We are extremely proud that MidAmerican Energy has again selected us to provide our advanced wind turbine equipment for its expansion projects in Iowa. Having just completed the 593.4MW wind projects for the company, this additional order is evidence of the confidence forward-looking utilities, such as MidAmerican Energy, place in our technology and implementation capabilities."

The turbines will be produced in Siemens’ factories at Fort Madison, Iowa, and Hutchinson, Kansas. The nacelle assembly facility in Hutchinson was opened in December, for Siemens’ 2.3MW and 3MW turbines.
