Indian Energy signs 1GW wind deal

INDIA: Independent power producer Indian Energy today announced a deal with Trishe Developers to build up to 1GW of wind capacity by 2016.

Under the terms of the deal Trishe will develop the wind schemes to an as-yet-unspecified stage, before selling them on to Indian Energy.

It is expected that approximately 300MW of projects will be commissioned during 2013, a further 350MW by 2014 and the remaining 350MW by 2016. The projects will be implemented across a number of States in India, including Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Maharashtra.

The turbines will be supplied by various manufacturers, with Indian Energy saying today that each project will utilise the most appropriate turbine technology for the site.

Indian Energy will be selling the power generated by the wind farms to both state utilities as well as industrial customers.
