According to German wind energy institute DEWI, 2,007MW of wind capacity installed in Germany last year. German family-owned turbine manufacturer Enercon once more accounted for the lion's share of installations with 59.5%. Vestas followed with 21% of the market.
Repower Systems and Nordex accounted for 9.7% and 3.9% respectively. Bard took 2.1% or about 40MW with its offshore installations.
If Siemens Wind and GE Wind installed any turbines at all in Germany last year, their efforts disappeared into "other" along with other small companies. This category accounted for a 3.8% share or a total 76MW.
In 2010, Siemens Wind Power had at least clocked up 3.9% or 60MW of the 1,551.03MW installed that year.
GE Wind, on the other hand, was completely off the radar in 2010 as well. It remains to be seen whether its "We are the GE in German campaign" („Wir sind das GE in Germany") launched in the country in September 2011 makes any difference for wind turbine installations in 2012.
Overall Germany’s installed capacity now totals 29,075MW.
