The project, located near Puti Island, will consist of 100 3MW turbines, with a total investment of CNY 5.76 billion ($914 million). The feasibility research report, commissioned by National Energy Bureau (NEB), of the wind farm has been passed.
The project will stretch to 18km from the coastline. The approving authority will complete the approval procedure at the end of this year, said China Hydropower Engineering Consulting Group.
The project will be constructed and connected to the grid before the end of 2015 and will generate 752 million kWh electric power annually.
Leting county is situated at the Bohai Bay, north China. It has 124.9km of coastline, one fourth of the coastline of Hebei province. The county has 3.7GW exploitable wind power resources.
The county government established an offshore wind-power development plan in early 2011. NEB approved the county to prepare for the 300MW offshore wind-power project in June 2011.
According to the NEB, China will construct 5GW of offshore wind projects by 2015, 5% of its total wind installed capacity.
