Wind farm construction started in December 2010 and finished nine months later, with a total investment of CNY 439 million. It is able to generate 98 million kWh annually.
The second stage of the wind farm, also sizing 49.5MW, is under construction. It is scheduled to complete and integrated to the grid by the end of this year, said Zhao Qiang, manager of Dangjin Mountain Wind Farm.
Around 90% of China's existing wind farms are located under 1,000-metres altitude.
Chinese power companies are turning to high-altitude areas as the next area for development as rich wind resources on the country's plains have already been exploited.
Huanang Renewables and Longyuan Power have developed some wind farms in southwest China plateaus over 2,000 metres above sea level.
