DATC is a joint-venture between Duke Energy and American Transmission that was launched in April.
The company aims to build 1,850 miles of transmission lines located in the midwest states of Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana and Ohio. These would enable better delivery of renewable energy such as wind power.
They include 1,300 circuit miles of 345kV lines and 550 miles of 500kV HVDC lines. The projects would be constructed over the next ten years.
The projects have been submitted to the regional transmission organisation Midwest Independent Transmission System Operator for inclusion in its Midwest Transmission Expansion Plan.
