Vestas receives V60 order from Datang

CHINA: Vestas has been handed a 49.3MW order from Datang Renewables for a project in the Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

Vestas will supply 58 V60-850kW turbines to the Dayuanshan wind farm in Wuchan county, which is around 1,800-2,000 metres above sea level.

The V60 is designed for high altitude conditions with low-to-medium wind speed conditions. The turbine has an internal heating system and a wind sensor with a built-in heater to handle problems caused by ice and snow.

Speaking about the contract, Vestas China president Jens Tommerup said: "We firmly believe that wind turbines that are best suited for the wind and terrain conditions in question are paramount to achieving a higher level of productivity, and this is a significant parameter for the return on investment over the 20-year lifetime of the project."
