Goldwind expands into Canada

CANADA: Goldwind has expanded its North American operation into Canada with the appointment of director of sales for the country.

Goldwind has hired Vikaas Rao-Aourpallyto from Stirling Energy systems where he worked on contract negotiations and sales of large scale solar projects.

As director of sales he will be responsible for establishing an office and providing sales and service solutions for the Canadian market.

Prior to working at Stitling, Rao-Aourpallyto worked in Lehman Brother's renewable energy development arm, SkyPower, developing a pipeline of wind projects in the Western Region of the US.

Last year, Tim Rosenzweig was appointed CEO of Goldwind USA, and has been running Goldwind's North American operation for just over a year. He is hoping to replicate the success he has had there and expand Goldwind's presence in Canada.

Goldwind owns the 106.5MW Shady Oaks wind project in Illinois. With the purchase at the end of 2010 it became the first Chinese company to supply turbines to a US utility-scale project.
