Greenko to add 650MW in India

INDIA: Energy provider Greenko is build 650MW of wind projects in India.

The company is to build projects in the Indian states of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan.

Greenko has also extended its supply agreement with GE for its new 1.6MW turbine.

The company is raising £50 million to finance the project via a share offering.

In April, Greenko announced plans to build a 300MW wind farm in the Indian state of Karnataka.

Greenko said the wind farm would be built in two phases. Phase 1 (100MW) will be online towards the end of 2012, while phase 2 will be complete in three years.

There is a 10-year PPA in place with Karnataka, which comes into force when the project is completed.
