Wind makes up bulk of Brazilian energy auction

BRAZIL: The Brazilian federal energy planning company EPE has revealed wind energy makes the largest proportion of the 23GW of projects registered for it’s A-3 tender.

EPE said 429 of the 568 projects put forward were wind farms, which had a combined capacity of 10.9GW. The auction is scheduled for July.

According to EPE, the bulk of the wind projects are split between Rio Grande du Norte, Rio Grande du Sul, Ceare and Bahia.

In addition, 81 projects were registered gas thermal power plants with capacity of 4580MW.  

The natural gas plants totalling 6,642MW in 16 projects and there was the registration of extension of a hydroelectric plant, with additional 450 MW.

The deadline for registration on EPE ended on May 4 for all enterprises, except for natural gas thermal power projects, whose term is waxing in the next 19 days.
