The mistake was made in a company press release dated April 1, in which GE said it had received the third best rating for wind turbine services in Germany in a survey of turine operator opinions carried out by the federal wind energy association (Bundesverband Windenergie).
The manufacturer confirmed to “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç it only had 4.5GW capacity in Europe. However, it declined to state how much capacity it has installed in Germany.
GE is not known as a major player in Germany.
The company was not prepared to confirm “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç information that only 23MW of GE wind turbines were commissioned in Germany 2009 after 12MW in 2008.
"It is GE policy to share details on number of installations or installed capacity only by region, not by individual countries," the company says.
Asked for an prediction for GE Energy in Germany in 2011 and 2012, the company replied "It is GE policy not to provide outlooks."
