GE launches 2.75MW onshore turbine

UNITED STATES: GE has formally launched its second new turbine this week, the GE 2.75-103.

The GE 2.75-103 turbine

The 2.75MW product, which has been designed for low to medium wind speed areas, follows the launch of the GE 4.1 offshore turbine.

The 2.75 uses the platform of the 2.5 and has a rotor diameter of 103 metres. It is available in hub heights of 75, 85 and 98 metres.

Stephan Ritter, general manager for GE’s Renewable Energy business in Europe said: "This product marks a solid addition to our product portfolio. The design of the 2.75MW turbine is built on the core design of the 2.5 MW series with minor electrical changes, which reflects our evolutionary product strategy: to create value for our customers by building on proven performance and reliability."

GE said the turbine would be available for installation this summer.
