The report, ‘Indian Wind Energy Sector Analysis’, said the sector is likely to expand in India with continued public and private sector participation.
RNCOS attributes the large number of wind projects built in the country to climatic conditions and regulatory support.
Wind power makes up 70% of grid-connected renewable power installed in India, and this is expected to remain almost constant in the coming years, the report said.
According to the latest “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç Windicator, India’s total operating capacity increased by 14% in the last quarter of 2010, from 11,500MW to 13,057MW.
Indian wind power capacity saw a record increase of 2GW in 2010 and the country has 48.5GW of estimated wind power potential.
