According to Brazil's wind industry association Abeeolica, the factory would produce 300 blades a year and would be built in Tapas in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil’s southernmost state.
The installation of the factory depends on the success of a 588MW wind farm designed by Impel Engineering, also in Rio Grande do Sul. The project will be part of an auction in August.
Suzlon’s most recent Brazillian order came last month from Martifer Renováveis to set up and operate a 218MW project across the states of Ceará and Rio Grande do Norte in the north east of the country.
Suzlon will supply 104 S88-2.1MW wind turbines, which are designed for medium wind speeds. The project is scheduled to be commissioned in phases by June 2012.
