Suzlon gets approval to build 1GW in Gujurat

INDIA: Suzlon has signed a memorandum of understanding with the government of Gujurat to develop 1GW over the next three years, doubling the manufacturer's capacity in the north western Indian state.

The agreement includes turbines for the Kutch wind farm

The agreement covers the development of wind farms in the districts of Saurashtra, Kutch and other parts of the state, which is home to some of India's best wind resource.

Suzlon already has over 1100MW of installations in Gujarat, across the Kutch, Porbandar, Rajkot and Bhavnagar districts. The Kutch wind farm has 850 turbines amounting to over 800MW.

Gujarat is home to Suzlon’s rotor blade test facility and five manufacturing units.

Suzlon won a contract earlier this month to supply 150MW to Indian mining group Vedanta for projects in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu in southern India, Rajastan in northern India and Maharastra in western India.
