The Aghia Anna wind farm was developed by Iberdrola Renovables subsidiary Rokas Renewables, and is located in the Larnaca district.
Thanasis Tsantilas, energy director general at Rokas Renewables, said the wind farm should begin commercial operations by mid-2011.
The wind farm will be composed of 10 Gamesa 2MW turbines and is expected to have annual electricity production of about 31 GWh, said Tsantilas.
Tsantilas says another Rokas project in Cyprus, a 42MW wind farm west of Klavdia village, is in the final authorization stages.
Should licensing procedures be concluded end-2010, that wind farm could be commissioned by the beginning of 2012. That project will also use Gamesa 2MW machines.
The island's first wind farm, an 82MW facility developed by local firm DK Windsupply, should come online by end-2010.
Earlier this year, construction also began on a second wind farm, the 31.5MW Alexigros wind farm being developed by Wincono Cyprus, a joint venture between local developer Ketonis and Germany's Wincono.
The national renewable energy action plan of Cyprus targets installed wind capacity of 300MW by 2020 and annual electricity production of 499GWh.
