Eighteen of the plant are located in France, comprising 70 turbines totalling 138MW, and three in Germany, with 15 turbines for a total of 25MW. The €7.4 million contract includes the maintenance of Gamesa's G5X and G8X series of turbines.
It runs for three years from January 1 2011, and can be extended for another two. Commenting on the deal, Gamesa said: "The contract strengthens Gamesa's foothold in the operation and maintenance business, a division which the company expects to drive growth and recurring revenues (€400 million by 2012)."
The division employs over 2000 staff maintaining 12GW of Gamesa turbines worldwide. The company says it has supplied turbines totalling more than 20GW in 20 countries.
