GE introduces new 2.75MW turbine design

UNITED STATES: GE has introduced two 2.75MW turbines based on its 2.5MW machine.

GE's 2.5MW turbine has been uprated to 2.75MW

The manufacturer introduced the 2.75-100 and 2.75-103 models at the Husum Wind Energy conference in Germany.

The 2.75-100 is an uprate of GE’s 2.5-100 wind turbine, with no changes to the mechanical components and only minor differences between the electrical systems.

The 2.75-103 has a 103-metre rotor, using GE’s 50.2-metre proprietary blade design.

GE says the latest additions to its fleet broaden its ability to cover a range of wind conditions and yield the highest annual energy production in their IEC classes.

The company recently sold three of its 2.5MW turbines to German wind farm developer Germania Windpark.

GE says it has sold the 2.5MW machine in 19 European countries.
