CanWEA buoyed by Ontario resident poll

CANADA: The Canadian Wind Energy Association is pushing back against industry opponents in Ontario with a new poll showing that 89% residents support the production of wind energy in their region of the province.

When asked if they would want turbines in their own community, three in ten said no.

"There is much to be optimistic about wind’s future in the province, and the poll reflects the fact that Ontario citizens believe in the promise of this growing industry," says CanWEA president Robert Hornung.

Ontario has the most aggressive renewable energy strategy in Canada, but it also has some of the country’s most vocal and well-organized wind power opponents.
