Timken’s contract will cover parts and services for Goldwind’s 1.5MW and 2.5MW turbines.
The American company is to provide roller bearings, condition-monitoring systems and engineering support. The two firms said the deal will cover more than 1,500MW of machines.
Goldwind is China’s second-biggest manufacturer, installing 2.7GW in 2009. Analysts expect Goldwind to produce more than 3,000 of its 1.5MW turbines in 2010.
Timken has two bearings factories in China, in Wuxi and Xiangtan. It also manufactures wind components in North Carolina, South Carolina, India and Romania.
The company is listed on the New York Stock Exchange, and had sales of $3.1 billion in 2009.
