German firms take top supplier slots

FRANCE: German manufacturer Repower has installed more than 1GW of turbines capacity in France, says the company, taking 20% share of the market.

Now part of the Suzlon Group, Repower Systems established its French subsidiary Repower SAS in 2002 with Belgium's Turbowinds and erected its first turbine, a 1.5MW unit in the north-eastern Marne departement.

Over 500 turbines have now been installed, making it the country's second-largest supplier after fellow German firm Enercon.

CEO Per Hornung Pedersen says that Repower SAS "is among the oldest and largest Repower subsidiaries and generates one of the highest levels of sales". The company now has its eye on France's offshore market.
