Atlantic Power acquires 183MW Idaho share

US: Atlantic Power Corporation has followed GE and acquired a stake in 11 wind farms under construction in Idaho.

GE's 1.5MW turbine will be used in the Idaho projects

Atlantic Power has bought a 20% share in Idaho Wind Partners 1, which will have a combined capacity of 183MW. The share cost $40million.

Last week it was announced that GE had signed a deal with wind developer Exergy Development Group taken a majority share in the Idaho Wind Partners projects. Exergy will own a minority interest, along with manager and operator Reunion Power.

The wind farms will be equipped with 122 1.5MW GE turbines and the power will be sold to the Idaho Power Company under a 20-year deal.

Construction of the wind farms started last month with completion expected by the end of the year. The projects are located near Hagerman and Burley.
