Cedar Point, which is set to be operational by next year, will be using 139 V90 1.8MW turbines. A 20-year power purchase agreement for the development has been signed with the Xcel Energy-owned Public Service Company.

Colorado, which added nearly 600MW of wind power in 2007 and less than 200MW since, is gearing up for another burst of activity.
The state recently upped its green energy mandate to compel investor-owned utilities to source 30% of their power by 2020 from renewable sources after its previous 20% goal was deemed too easily reachable.
Cedar Point is the first of 650MW or more of new projects set to be built from 2011 by Xcel Energy. Colorado totalled nearly 1.25GW of online wind power last year.
