Baltic 2 will be using 80 Siemens 3.6MW turbines with 120-metre blades. The wind farm, which will become Germany's second commercial offshore project, is located 32km off the island of Rügen, in the western Baltic Sea.
The project is scheduled to come online in 2013.
Siemens also supplied the turbines for ENBW's 48.3MW Baltic 1 wind farm, which is expected to come online later this year.
Speaking about the deal, ENBW chief technical officer Hans-Josef Zimmer said: "Today's contract signing is an important step in the expansion of our offshore wind power business. Baltic 2 will be approximately six times bigger than Baltic 1. And this expansion will continue: ENBW is planning to build a total of four offshore wind farms with a combined capacity of approximately 1,200 megawatts in the Baltic and North Sea."
ENBW has a stated aim of sourcing 20% of its total electricity from renewables by 2020. The group now has 1.2GW of offshore wind projects in its portfolio, due to come online by 2015.
Recently, the utility purchased seven prospective developments from developer PNE Wind. The seven stations totalling 53MW will all be commissioned in 2010.
