Alstom is also planning to obtain North American certification of its ECO80/86 and ECO 100/110 platforms for the US market.
The turbines' nacelles will be built at the new manufacturing plant in Amarrillo, Texas, which is set to begin production in 2011. The facility will mainly supply the US market.
Speaking about the partnership and the plant, Andy Geissbuehler, vice president and general manager of Alstom Wind North America said: "Coupled with the construction of our new nacelle assembly facility in Amarillo and a similar R&D agreement with NREL, this strategic partnership with NIRE will position us to deliver our proven technology solutions to the North American market."
