The bids will be evaluated by a committee before a second stage of bidding begins. Announcement of successful bids is expected by this summer. The tender represents the first opening for new projects since the government capped capacity at 330MW in 2006. Hungary's installed wind capacity stands at 201MW but should move close to the ceiling this year.
Wind Wire: Hungary - Energy office is flooded with bids
The Hungarian Energy Office has received 68 bids to build 1.1GW of wind power capacity in the country, nearly three times the concession for 410MW.
