The manufacturer said it was temporarily laying off 28 employees, adding to the 34 temporarily lay-offs announced in October. In February the company, which is Canada's only turbine manufacturer, employed 72 people.
AAER has been unable to give an estimate as to how long they will be out of work. Neither has it been able to divulge the precise reasons for the move.
However analysts have suggested AAER's problems may be rooted in its failure to secure part of Hydro-Quebec's 2GW project in 2008. The contract went to German manufacturers Enercon and REpower.
