Timetable unveiled to connect 4GW to network

IRELAND: Transmission system operator Eirgrid has published its timetable for connecting nearly 4GW of wind to Ireland's electricity network.

The 160 wind projects form the bulk of a total 5.9GW of new renewable and conventional generating capacity waiting for connections in Gate 3, the latest and biggest-ever round of connection offers.

Eirgrid says 219MW of wind could be connected this year, but most capacity will not be linked up until 2018 onwards, and more than 25% of developers will have to wait at least until 2020.
