The plant could be extended to 200MW at a later date. The individual companies shortlisted include AES Corporation of the US and Fersa of Spain. Jordan is targeting 600MW of wind power by 2015. So far it has just 1MW turning in two demonstration projects.

Jordan's first commercial wind power plant came a step closer with the announcement that 16 candidates have been selected in the first round of a tender process to build, own and operate a 80-90MW installation at Al Fujeij, south of Amman.
