Calgary’s TransAlta Corporation will expand its 96 MW Kent Hills wind facility to 150 MW by adding 18 more Vestas V90 3 MW turbines to the site.
Construction of the C$100 million addition will start once all regulatory and environmental approvals are in place, with commercial operation expected by the end of the year.

Power issued by the government-owned utility in June 2009, is a "clear demonstration" of the province’s commitment to capture the environmental and economic benefit of its wind resource and become a key energy supplier to northeastern North America.
"Renewable energy is a cornerstone of our government's energy policy," says New Brunswick Premier Shawn Graham. "This fact will remain as we continue to grow our energy hub."
The new wind capacity will also bring New Brunswick one step closer to its goal of having 400 MW of wind on line by the end of the year. It now has 195 MW up and operating and another 168 MW with signed power purchase agreements.
The Kent Hill expansion will take TransAlta’s installed wind capacity over the 1 GW mark, making it the first Canadian power producer to reach that milestone.
