Researchers sent 1000 health surveys to residents last summer and received between 150 and 200 responses. The same survey was completed this spring and another will be mailed in late August, two months after Wolfe Island came online. "To our knowledge there are no other studies that have investigated health impacts prior to, during and after wind turbine construction," says Michelutti. "There have been some instances where people living close to turbines have reported certain health effects, such as sleeplessness, anxiety, tinnitus or nausea. However, without baseline health data measured prior to turbine construction, it is difficult to reach any definitive conclusions regarding the impacts of turbines."
