Wind wire: Largest single project

China's Inner Mongolia Development and Reform Committee is examining a 400 MW wind farm at Hanshan, Chifeng City, by major utility Datang.

If approved it will become the country's largest single wind project. A feasibility study has been concluded, as have preliminary surveys. Plans for the Hanshan wind farm call for installation of 264, 1.5 MW turbines across 213 square-kilometres on a prairie of altitude 960-1200 metres above sea level. Anticipated annual output is 1 TWh. Construction of the CNY 4.3 billion ($630.9 million) project is slated to begin in 2010.
