German firm Nordex is to build the Bandirma III installation using ten of its 2.5 MW turbines, for completion next year.
Nordex, which set up an office in Turkey in April, says the deal "confirms the expectations we have of the high-growth Turkish market." The company is also supplying 51, 2.5 MW turbines for three plant under construction near Izmir on the west coast: 90 MW at Bergama and 22.5 MW at Mazi III for Bilgin Energy, and 15 MW at Kores for Dost Enerji, two local owner-operators.
Makinsan, which started looking at renewable energy over four years ago, is also developing its own wind power projects and has applications pending with Turkey's Energy Market Regulatory Authority for more than 100 MW.
