Two wind farms totalling 165 MW for Calabria
The southern Italian region of Calabria has authorised construction of two wind farms with a combined capacity of 165 MW. The largest of the two, the 120 MW La Canelle project, is being developed by an outfit calling itself "Vent 1 Capo Rizzutto." The second authorisation has gone to IGP Italian Green Power for a 45 MW wind farm in Fossa del Lupo, where energy group Erg is already constructing an 110 MW plant. In Calabria's official bulletin from late January, Eolica Sud is also authorised to significantly modify a 120 MW project known as the S. Sostene wind farm for which it had previously been given the go-ahead. Calabria had roughly 100 MW of installed wind capacity at the end of 2007, but is seen as one of the hottest regions for future growth.
