Green power to be used in public works projects

The Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) is to promote the use of renewable energy by incorporating green power technology in public works projects. The ministry is considering adding solar panels or wind turbines when building public roads, bridges, and other major constructions. The renewable power plants will be run as public enterprises. The aim is to increase citizen awareness of new energy and the importance of saving energy. The public is increasingly critical of the government's huge public investments, which are often perceived to be wasteful.
