MOYNIHAN FIRST PRESIDENT OF BRITISH WIND ENERGY ASSOCIATION

Former energy minister Colin Moynihan promises to be an active campaigner for wind energy in his role as the first president of the British Wind Energy Association. "One of our biggest challenges is how we can convince people about the benefits of wind energy," he says. Speaking at the BWEA's conference dinner last month, he pledged to address worries such as noise and visual intrusion. Moynihan was energy minister from 1990-92 when the first contracts were awarded to renewables projects under the Non Fossil Fuel Obligation. He hopes to use his old political contacts to push the case for wind and stressed the need to lobby the Labour Party.
