Australians buy two UK renewables companies to form European venture

Primergy Limited, an Australian renewable energy company with bases in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria, has acquired two UK renewables companies to form the foundation of Primergy Europe. The purchases of Ambient Energy Limited and ESD-Ventures Limited includes 70 MW of green power projects comprising biomass, wind and hydro technologies. The Ambient Energy purchase includes 15 year power purchase agreements under UK government Non Fossil Fuel Obligation contracts. In Australia, Primergy is the company responsible for establishing the manufacturing venture of Dutch Lagerwey turbines under licence. It is also involved with the commercialisation of a "diffuser augmented" wind turbine concept marketed by Vortec of New Zealand. ESD-Ventures has developed advanced gasification techniques and has plans for two 5.5 MW biomass plants in Suffolk and North Wiltshire. The purchase of ESD-Ventures from Energy for Sustainable Development Limited incorporates an agreement that provides Primergy Europe with first rights to renewable energy projects on a global basis.
