Performing well at Cowley Ridge
Despite early teething problems, the Kenetech 33M-VS turbines which make up the 9 MW wind farm at Cowley Ridge, in southwestern Alberta, are now performing well, says the company. Availability exceeded 96% in the first half of May. "We are delivering power to TransAlta Utilities Corporation in accordance with our contract. This should silence any rumours about the performance of our 33M-VS turbines at Cowley Ridge," says Kenetech's Bud Grebey. Alberta developer Dale Johnson, president of Wind Power Inc which co-constructed the wind farm with Kenetech, agrees that "the project is going fine."
