DeWind 3.5 MW prototype
Turbine manufacturer DeWind Technik expects to install the prototype of its "D9" 3.5 MW turbine next year, according to the company's Rüdiger Kortenkamp. He says the variable speed, pitch controlled machine is built for both on-shore and offshore use. Experience gleaned from its operation will be used in the design of a 5 MW machine to be developed with Jacobs Energie. The unit is destined for an offshore project near the German island of Helgoland, planned by wind developer Winkra Energie (“uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç, November 1999).
