NSP HAS NOW SPLIT UP ITS 100MW REP
Turbines built by Germany's Tacke Windtechnik have apparently been successfully offered in a bid made by SeaWest, co-operating with Northern Alternative Power, for a recent request for proposals (RFP) from Northern States Power for 100 MW of wind. A separate bid made by SeaWest with Nordtank machines was turned down. The Minnesota utility intends to install around 415 MW of wind over the next five years. It seems that NSP has now split its 100 MW RFP and is giving SeaWest/Northern Alternative, Zond and FloWind 33 MW each. The contract runs for 30 years and will apparently pay $0.047/kWh. If the order is confirmed, Tacke says it will start production in Canada at London, Ontario, for the North American markets. Tacke is also discussing blade manufacture with an unnamed Canadian firm after talks with Daimon Aircraft in Canada fell through.
