Wind farm becomes Manitoba tourist hotspot

Visitors are "arriving by the busload" to see the 63 wind turbines that make up Manitoba's 99 MW St. Leon wind farm, making the project the prairie province's newest tourism hotspot. "The steady stream of visitors to St Leon demonstrates that people have taken a genuine interest in the generation of clean, renewable wind power," says Tourism Minister Eric Robinson. Jim Duff of Algonquin Power, the project's operator, says when the weather is nice his team sees cars driving around the wind farm on a daily basis, while tour buses bring people to the site nearly every day during the summer months. The wind farm is about a 90 minute drive from Manitoba's capital city of Winnipeg.
