Denmark, home to the greatest concentration of wind companies, supplied over 600 MW of wind capacity to the world in 1996, corresponding to an annual industry growth rate of 20%. The industry now employs 9000 people, an increase of 10% in one year. Four wind companies were among the top 50 job creators in Denmark and provisional figures indicate that only exports of pork and medicine earned the country more foreign exchange last year.
