Approval for 124 MW wind plant in Queensland
The 124 MW Crows Nest wind farm planned by Allco Wind Energy for south east Queensland has won development consent. The A$270 million project will comprise 75 turbines. Allco is now seeking a power purchase agreement and hopes construction can start this year. It is the first wind project in Australia for the company, which has recently entered the global wind business (pages 32 and 46). Crows Nest will produce enough electricity to power more than 47,000 homes and is expected to create 460 jobs during construction and 15 full time positions.
