MARKET CONSIDERED PROMISING
In August Tacke Windtechnik of Salzbergen is to deliver four 600 kW turbines to Brazilian utility COELCE for installation near Forta Lesa. The Brazilian market is considered promising as strong economic growth means an additional 20,000 MW of generating capacity will be needed by 2000. At the moment hydro power plays an overwhelming role in the country's power supplies. Forty five incomplete dam projects will probably be finished to supply a good part of the required power, but wind energy could also play a big role, especially as it would complement the hydro -- between May and August, when water levels are low, the wind is at its strongest.
