Wind energy supporters target Victoria parliament

More than 100 people rallied on the steps of Parliament House in Melbourne to ask the Victoria state government "to continue its support of wind energy as an alternative to polluting fossil fuels." The rally had the support of some of Australia's most prominent environment groups including Greenpeace, the Australian Conservation Foundation, Friends of the Earth, Environment Victoria, the Wilderness Society, as well as the Greens and the Australian Democrats. "We are thirty years behind Europe with renewable energy and we can not afford to fall further behind now," said Adrian Whitehead of Campaign against Coal.
